SUMMARY:SCOTTISH TRADITIONAL BOAT FESTIVAL
DESCRIPTION:30th June — 2 July 2023\n\nPortsoy Pushes the Boat Out\n\n\nAs one of the country’s largest maritime culture and heritage celebrations\, the Scottish Traditional Boat Festival is enjoyed by visitors from near and far. \nThousands of people drop anchor at Portsoy\, packing into the Aberdeenshire town’s picturesque harbours and seafront areas to savour the spectacle. \nThe festival was first held in 1993 as a one-off to mark the tercentenary of the historic harbour. With ambition and determination it has continued every year since\, becoming one of the region’s leading tourism events\, with just as many activities off the water as on it. Only a pandemic stopped it in its tracks\, with 2020 being cancelled and 2021 moving online\, watched by an audience across the globe. \n\n\nBoats and so much more…\n\n\nThe focus is maritime and seafaring heritage\, but there’s so much more; you could describe the Scottish Traditional Boat Festival as a series of festivals within a festival. The action-packed family programme includes: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nScotland’s premiere heritage boats \n\n\n\n\nFood and drink fayre \n\n\n\n\nLive craft demonstrations \n\n\n\n\nChildren’s fun and entertainment \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSea-borne activities \n\n\n\n\nIndoor & outdoor music & dance \n\n\n\n\nRoad race and fun run \n\n\n\nInteresting stalls and intriguing displays\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPortsoy\, Aberdeenshire \nSaturday 1st July\n9 am – 5 pm \nSunday 2nd July\n10 am – 5 pm
